“Thanksgiving & Forward Journey” by PT Mammen

Scripture: Exodus 15:1-18

Today we will see how thanksgiving principle opens up a new direction.

Israel witnessed a majestic deliverance over the Egyptian army. Crossing of the Red Sea remains as a great event in all of history. Archeologists have reported recent discoveries of artifacts related to the sunken Egyptian army. Four attributes of God are demonstrated here not only in words but in suitable actions.

1. Power
2. Supremacy
3. Holiness
4. Mercy versus judgment.

This passage is divided into five stanzas. Verses 1-5, 6-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-18.

The first four reaffirm the story of deliverance. The Lord is shown as the mighty one of Israel ready to save His people. A strong tower, a mighty warrior, avenger of the enemies, delivers with strong arms, drawn sword, power of His breath and unfailing love. The last stanza verses 13-18 direct the listener to look forward to what the Lord has in mind.

There is a journey ahead for all believers. This is not an easy path, rather beware of some strong enemies ahead. Looking ahead, each step of the way you must show up, but the Lord will enable you to do the battle to win victory for His name. He wants to establish a place for His name. God would plant them in the land of promise permanently. God commanded His people to go forward but He promised to go ahead. Thanks to God.
