“Unknown Becomes Real” by P.T.Mammen
Today we will see how God becomes real to us. Epicureans taught supreme good is happiness which led to hedonism.
Stoics taught living in harmony with nature, confident self sufficiency leads to pride. This approach leads to having proximity to God, and becomes easier to make own gods. Hand made gods make people turn inwardly and look at only what they can control. They are troubled when things beyond their control occur, and become desponded or depressed.
Then they seek other self mad methods for appeasement like addictions to life style and products. Senseless images, local divinities, impersonal abstractions all worshipped in the place of the true God will lead people to reject the true living God. Areopagus was the college of justice where pronouncements of justice was made.
New concepts Paul introduced:
1. Unity of God
2. The common brotherhood of man
3. The resurrection Christ
4. The reality of judgment day
5. The need to repentance.
The great unknown is the power behind the visible, let us worship Him in spirit and truth.
