Today we will identify how God’s people deal with controversies.  God works in the hearts of people for the purpose of bringing them to faith. Change occurs to the new believer and that experience is always relevant. Others may view the same event in terms of their own frame of reference. This is how controversy arises.  There is a spirit led way of dealing with such situations. 

God of creativity and innovation introduced a new methodology in the early church – bringing gentiles to faith. It was confirmed by the Holy Spirit and Peter, the lead apostle.  When others questioned, Peter did not hold to rank as the chief apostle or did not resent the inquiry, but frankly and in humility gave a complete set of events in order.

He recognized their right to ask questions and a clear explanation: the vision, arrival of Cornelius’s messengers and the inward prompting of the Spirit, account of Cornelius’ visit with the angel, the reminder he had from what Jesus had said, and the descent of the Spirit on the gentiles. He humbled himself not to restrain the full privilege by baptizing the household.

The believers in Jerusalem received the report and peace prevailed.  Peter outlined teaching on God, Christ, Spirit, Providence, grace, sin, salvation and of last things. Let us enjoy fullness of God.
