“Overcoming Temptations” by PT Mammen

Today we will consider the course of Jesus temptation as recorded in Luke 4:1-13. As the season of lent begins we focus on the life, ministry, suffering and victory of Jesus. The very fact of the incarnation, the word becoming flesh, was the first step of humiliation for Jesus. His temptation was to identify with those who are of flesh and blood and to assure victory for those who will be tempted.
Spiritual people are tempted. People who walk after the flesh do not have to endure temptation. They are already fallen.
Tempter seeks the opportune time until Gethsemane.

Tempter uses the weakest point to attack.  Doubting words are used to generate suspicion about your role, position and mission. Victory is assured for those who hold their priorities right, and avoid the ease of choices. Always lean on the word of God to triumph over the tempter. His strength is ours to win the battle. We do not fight alone.
