Beginning today we will focus on the Christmas theme. What makes this Christ –child special? Isaiah 7:14 is the first prophetic text proclaiming the virgin birth of Christ. There is a historic reference to a child born in Isaiah’s time. But the truth of incarnation is vividly shown

1.    in the angel’s appearance to the Virgin Mary,
2.    the announcement of the manner of the child’s conception,
3.    the endowment of the Holy Spirit
4.    according to the natural perfectly human timing and form
5.    sustained by mother’s own life; Jesus of Nazareth is at once Man and God, born of the earth, earthy; born of heaven, heavenly and Divine. Deity in human flesh; the creator becomes a creation, the Immortal born to die; a babe, yet a King; an infant, yet God, the one from everlasting, consenting to begin in time.

When we see this mystery revealed it is easier to acknowledge truly this son of God who healed the sick, calmed the raging seas, fed the multitude and raised the dead.
In the name “Immanuel” lies hid the mystery of redemption, God with us to save, deliver and shoe love. This child has other names given to Him in 9:6, 7 and perfectly applies.
