"A thankful culture" by PT Mammen

Today we will launch the privilege of thanksgiving as a worthy way of life. But we see that missionary efforts are a result of a heart full of gratitude.

The psalmist in 118th Psalm invites all to acknowledge God with Thanksgiving.  There are numerous reasons, but foremost is God’s mercy.  Please observe

1. Slow to punish wickedness
2. In the gift of Jesus, His Son as our savior
3. In the work of the Holy Spirit
4. In the establishment of His Church
5. In the all encompassing comprehensiveness of mercy
6. In its regenerating and glorifying power.

It is not fluctuating to the likeness of human mercy that is coupled with selfishness.  Divine goodness is the source of divine mercy and therefore it is unconditional and eternal. Nations, Individuals and the Church are to offer thanks

It is not always fortunate circumstances, not a minister’s learning and eloquence or zeal, the church for its orthodoxy, happy chances or human sympathy and help.  Every distress is a call to prayer.  The Lord is on the believer’s side, providing us the needed victory over foes and openness to the vast terrain. Liberty to proclaim God’s mercy is the foundation for all missionary enterprises. The assurance of the presence of the Lord is the source of all courage for those who trust in Him We can trust in His goodness implicitly.

Praise the Lord.
