“Moving Mountains in Life" by PT Mammen

Today: We will study how the believer is to move mountains in life.

Notice the two types of people:
The true hearted believing  people desiring God Himself should come down.  Their desire is for what is above. The Holy Spirit elevates our desires, and teach us that our true blessedness lies in the heavenly matters.  Selfish groveling souls can ask from God certain blessings—health when sick, food when hungry, deliverance when in danger, They are satisfied with what is beneath the heavens. A soul in trouble seeks blessings experienced in the past. A repetition of the former interventions of God.

We are seeking a renting of the clouds of darkness and despair for a fuller view of the majesty of His power. A true refreshing of the Spirit occurs only in response to fervent prayers.  We need a reaffirmation of the former mercies, a closer and endearing relationship as in the past. Disobedience and unbelief be removed. When sin severs our connection with divine power all hope, help, all happiness is gone. The solution begins with waiting for God in faith, hope and obedience.

In answer, “the mountains” of difficulty and opposition shall be leveled into smoothness. When God comes down, the mountains flow away. The difficulties vanish when God puts forth His power. The power of God removes difficulties when we cry in His presence.  This is a cry of penitence and a cry of faith. God removes the difficulties  signally, unexpectedly and effectually.

Tendency to sin will be replaced with humble determination to submit ourselves to the will of God,  ushering in the blessedness prepared for those who experience His love. Even though the wicked do not acknowledge, we are assured of the sustaining sympathy of God.
